of his own products, using the safest, most environmentally friendly methods
to achieve superb results.

Take wood stain for example

Most wood stains available to purchase, give what we call a “negative” grain effect to the wood. We noticed this with our original classic range of wood stain, and developed a “Postive” range of wood stain.

The difference with Hannant's wood stains

When staining wood, most wood stain pigments are more easily absorbed into the soft grain area that lies between the darker stripes of the untreated wood grain. The soft grain then goes darker leaving the “real” wood grain appearing lighter. This effectively reverses the wood grain appearance to give a “negative” staining effect. Hannant’s wood stains, particularly the foundation stain, keep the “real” stripes of the wood grain prominent and produce a more natural “positive” effect.

Our wax polish

Our Wax Polish is as equally innovative as our wood stain. When we first started working with waxes during our furniture manufacture, we were so dizzy on the quick drying solvents being used in the traditional polishes we could barely get through a days work! We therefore developed a white spirit (Slow aliphatic (NOT Aromatic!) Solvent) based wax polish which would dry when the user had moved on to the next piece of furniture rather than directly into the users lungs while we were polishing the piece!

Water based wood finishing products

Wherever possible we have removed harmful solvents and petrochemicals from our products. Many of these chemicals can cause skin and respiratory damage with regular exposure as well as being harmful to the environment. Almost all Hannant's products are water based and non flammable, whereas many of the solvent chemicals traditionally found in wood finishing products, in addition to being harmful, are highly flammable and require special consideration for storage and transportation.
